Anyone with a love or passion for anime would have been excited if they found themselves at the Anime Gaming Con held on February 3 and 4, at the Big Fresno Fairgrounds.

Over the weekend, Fresno held the largest anime convention in the Central Valley, drawing in hundreds of people with organized gaming tournaments, anime vendors, car shows and character cosplay contests.

Vendors could be seen throughout three different buildings in the venue selling an abundance of items ranging from anime-inspired t-shirts, posters, figures, buttons, stickers and foods. Many of the products sold were made by the vendors themselves, as many of them were artists who wanted to showcase their art.

Although Anime Gaming Con markets itself as an anime convention, it is actually a place for fans of many different kinds of genres to come together and express themselves.

Attendants could be seen cosplaying as popular anime characters like Goku from Dragonball Z and Ash Ketchum from Pokémon. However, there would also be others who would dress as characters that had nothing to do with anime such as Spartans from the video game Halo and soldiers from the game Call of Duty.

The convention was very active overall with participants engaging with all the event had to offer. Spirits were high as attendees got the chance to talk and be around like-minded people who had an interest in anime and the culture surrounding it.

With popularity for Anime Gaming Con increasing with each passing year, anyone with an interest in anime who would like to be surrounded by its culture should look forward to the convention potentially returning in 2025.
